SHARING AI MEMORY
Can I share AI memory with my partner or family without merging accounts?
We make AI Twin, which is on this list.
Sharing one login mixes your chats and memories. ChatGPT group chats do not read or create personal memories, and a shared ChatGPT project switches to project-only memory that cannot see anyone's personal context. Claude memory is per person. AI Twin lets you bring people into your Twin and choose which sensitivity tiers they see.

Why does sharing one login cause problems?
When two people share one login, both sets of chats land in one history, and anything the assistant learns from them is held as one person's memory. There is no way to keep a private topic apart, and either person can see or delete the other's chats.
What does ChatGPT offer for couples and families?
ChatGPT offers two ways to work together: group chats and shared projects. Neither shares personal memory between accounts.
Some users have asked OpenAI for memory shared between separate accounts for couples and families. These are user requests on the community forum, not a shipped OpenAI feature.
Group chats do not read or create personal memories. A person added to a group sees the whole conversation history. Group chats are available on Free, Go, Plus and Pro. OpenAI Help Centre: Group chats. Verified .
Project sharing is available to all ChatGPT users. Once a project is shared, project-only memory turns on automatically and cannot be switched back, and shared projects do not have access to any individual member's context. Free users can invite up to 5 collaborators. OpenAI Help Centre: Projects in ChatGPT. Verified .

What does Claude offer?
Claude memory belongs to each account. Anthropic does not publish a way for two consumer accounts to share memory. On Team and Enterprise plans, owners decide whether memory is available but cannot read a member's memories.
Memory is on by default for Free, Pro and Max on the web, desktop and mobile apps; on Enterprise an owner allows it. You toggle Memory from chats under Settings, Your Claude (Settings, Memory in the older layout). It is saved as individual topics you can view, edit or delete under Manage. Each project has its own memory: within a project Claude uses that project's memory plus memory from chats outside projects, not other projects' memory, and Use account memory can be turned off per project. Deleting a conversation does not remove memories made from it. Incognito chats are not saved to memory. Searching past chats is on paid plans only. Claude Help Centre: Memory. Verified .
On Team and Enterprise plans, owners control whether memory is available and it is off for each member until they turn it on. Owners cannot view or edit a member's individual memories. Each project has its own memory. Claude Help Centre: Memory. Verified .
What is the difference between sharing a chat and sharing memory?
Sharing a chat shows other people one conversation. Sharing memory would let an assistant use what it knows about you when someone else asks. ChatGPT group chats and shared projects share the conversation or the project, not your personal memory.
