Claude keeps memories across conversations, and since 2026 that is available on every plan including free.
Does the import tool move my ChatGPT memory across?
Not as a copy. Claude's import tool reads an export from another assistant and builds Claude's own memories from it. It is experimental and it prioritises work-related memories.
Can Claude read an outside memory store?
Yes. Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, with free accounts limited to one, and an owner adding the connector first on Team and Enterprise.

The import tool
Claude's memory import tool reads an export from another assistant and builds Claude memories from it. It is experimental, it prioritises work-related memories, and it produces Claude's own interpretation of your history rather than a copy of it.

Reading an outside store
